- Low0-11 bpm
- Typical12-19 bpm
- Good20-40 bpm
What goes in
- End heart rate
- The highest reading in the last 30 seconds of the activity.
- One minute later
- The median reading 45-75 seconds after the end, from at least 3 readings.
How it is weighted
Heart rate recovery = end heart rate − heart rate one minute later, in bpm. It is measured only after a hard enough finish: at least 2 minutes in a row at 70% or more of your max heart rate within the last 5 minutes.
What the bands mean
- 20 bpm or more
- Good
- 12-19 bpm
- Typical
- Below 12 bpm
- Low
Limits
It needs dense heart rate around the end of the activity, which Fitbit does not always record; otherwise it shows Not enough heart-rate data. Moving about in that first minute, or stopping the activity late, lowers the drop. Compare it across similar workouts, not between different sports.
